Rocking L Ranch Idaho

Rocking L Weather, Idaho is located in southwestern Idaho approximately 20 miles west of Boise.  Rocking L transmits weather data to Weather Underground as KIDNAMPA57 and Rocking L Ranch, PWS Weather as KIDNAMPA57, FindU and CWOP as NV6B, Ham Weather APRS as NV6B, Northwestern Weather Network and MesoWest as AT957. In addition NOAA uses our data for local weather conditions. Being located in the Lower Treasure Valley leads to microclimate conditions, causing small variances from weather station to weather station. This is normal and all uploaded data is accurate and constantly checked for accuracy by www.weather.gladstonefamily.net/ and MesoWest. Our weather station consists of a Davis wireless Vantage Pro 2 and is air aspirated to help keep temperature and humidity readings more accurate. A heater is included in the rain collection unit to eliminate freezing conditions and allows measurement of snow water content; the heater is thermostatically controlled to eliminate temperature errors. The anemometer is located on a tower in the clear and has its own wireless transmitter back to the console. Data is collected by an Gateway server running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with VWS software for ftp uploading and Storm Predator radar imaging software. Data is sent rapid fire to Weather Underground and updated every 5 minutes to the other sites.  Webcam images are provided by a StarDot SC 1.3 mega pixel camera housed in an all weather security housing and is pointed north towards the northern sky.  Images are uploaded every 7 seconds and are available on Weather Underground and our Link.  Annual average total rainfall as measured from October 1st through September 30th is about 11”. Annual average total snowfall is 19” making for a wonderful winter scene.  Please feel free to contact us via the contact button with any questions.
Enjoy and happy weather watching!
